On-the-Job Training (OJT) The Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA) program provides the Business Solutions Team with funding for the On-the-Job Training program (OJT). Through OJT, businesses who hire adult and dislocated workers receive up to 50%wage reimbursement during the employee’s first 480 hours at work. This year’s accomplishments: 231 OJT Contracts
Wage Rage $12.00 - $43.27per hour
Success Stories
Mr. Sayed Mohammed Taq Sadat visited the Workforce Development Center to seek employment. Mr. Sadat was referred by Refugee Advocate, Mr. Dean Stoops and LA County Supervisor Hilda Solis’ office. He stated he was having a hard time finding work as he had arrived in the US in March of 2017. Sadat and his family relocated to the Lake Elsinore area fromLos Angeles County. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering froma university in Afghanistan. Mr. Sadat and his family have been surviving on Public Assistance, Cal Fresh, and currently reside in a one room studio apartment. An AJCC customer service representative speaks the same language as Mr. Sadat. Approximately 8 weeks after initial contact, a Business Solutions Representative referredMr. Sadat to a possible opportunitywith Geotechnical & Environmental Consultants in Lake Elsinore, just one mile from the client’s home. An interview was scheduled. Ms. Billie Parker, Executive Assistant at Geotechnical and Environmental Consultants, hiredMr. Sadat on January 22, 2018 as an Engineer Trainee using the On-the-Job Training Program. This was the perfect match for Mr. Sadat, as it is onemile fromhis home and he is able to use his Civil Engineering background in his new engineering position. Training primarily consists of Civil Engineering specifications in the US. Mr. Sadat is currently working full time making $22.00 per hour.
OJT candidate Frank Munoz was homeless when he entered theWorkforce Development Center for services. Hewas placedwith Big Horse Feed in Temecula to conduct his 480 hour OJT training. Mr. Munoz completed his training during the end of January and is nowworking full-time with Big Horse Feed in the Feed and FarmStore. The wages and training he received have allowed him to obtain housing.
