• The Office of Foreign Trade took a national lead in support of the Transatlantic Trade Treaty between the U.S. and European Union. The County now has 5 projects under the “EB-5” Program representing over $100 million in direct foreign investment. • The Film and Television Office was formed in October 2013 with the vision of providing a single resource to the film community to find filming locations and apply for permits within Riverside County. A revised film ordinance was approved by the Board of Supervisors. • The Office of Military & Defense Services was established in March 2014 to support military personnel in general, grow the County’s defense industry, support our military installations at March Air Reserve Base and Naval Surface Warfare Center, Corona and oppose base realignment and closure. • The Real Estate Division completed the acquisition of $50 million in real estate and had approximately 470 leases under management representing 5.5 million square feet of space.
• The Workforce Division assisted 1200 businesses with hiring qualified candidates to meet their workforce needs. • The Housing Authority manages multiple ongoing programs to provide permanent housing for the homeless and those suffering from AIDS, secures vouchers for housing for homeless veterans, assist low-income households with security deposits, and assist families in becoming economically independent. • The EDA Community Services Division and its sub-recipients expedited $6.8 million in HUD funding benefitting low- and very low-income persons in Riverside County. County-wide, 844,384 households and businesses received services funded through the Community Development Block Grant and Emergency Solutions Grant programs. • Admissions revenue from the Riverside County Fair & National Date Festival for 2014 increased to $1.13 million, and gate attendance was over 294,000. • Marketing – Facilitated more than 35 events, including the fourth annual State of the County meeting with over 550 attendees.
• Riverside County Library System – Logged over 4 million visitors and 650,000 computer sessions across the network of 35 libraries and 2 bookmobiles. • Edward-Dean Museum & Gardens – Volunteers from the Museum and Gardens gave free educational tours to over 400 students. Summer camps for kids have been added this year. • Facilities Management – Maintained over 7.5 million square feet of diverse county-owned facilities. • Internal Support Services – Managed a total budget of $436 million. • Aviation Division – Oversees operation of five regional airports serving Riverside County business, and serves as host of the air show held at the Jacqueline Cochran Regional Airport or the Hemet-Ryan Airport in alternating years. As you scan through or read the remainder of this annual report, consider the barriers that have been overcome to maintain and increase Riverside County’s economic momentum.
