Office of Military & Defense Services

Highlights:

The Office of Military & Defense Services was established by the Board of Supervisors in March 2014 and the office was assigned to EDA by the County Executive Officer in April 2014. The Commissioner of Foreign Trade shall serve as Commissioner of the Office of Military & Defense Services and be responsible for the daily operations of the office and staff and for the implementation of the Board of Supervisors’ and Executive Offices’ policies and directives. The Mission of the Office of Military & Defense Services Includes: • Oppose Base Realignment and Closure • Support our Military Installations at March Air Reserve Base and Naval Surface Warfare Center, Corona • Support our 950 Department of Defense Contractors • Support Military Realignment to our Local Bases • Support Military Personnel • Support Technology Transfer from our Navy to our Business Community • Support and grow our $5 Billion Defense Industry • Support our branches of the Armed Forces, Guard, Reserves and Active Duty • Seek Federal, State and Regional support for our Military • Official Military and Defense Representatives of the County • Support and Assist Governor’s Military Council

Helping Facilitate Technology Transfer The Office of Military & Defense Services, in cooperation with the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Corona, has already helped facilitate on April 16, 2014, the Navy’s signing of its first Technology Transfer Agreement with Norco based American Technical Services (ATS).  ATS is a privately owned technology firm.  These kinds of public private technology transfer agreements mean jobs and capital investment in our county. Navy Recognition Awards The Office of Military & Defense Services has received the United States Navy Commanding Officers Commendation from the Naval Surface Warfare Center and the Southwest United States Defense Alliance Award.
