DRAFT EDA in the 4th District
Los Angeles–based real estate developer Haagen Co. transformed the 215,000-square- foot, enclosed Indio Fashion Mall, which was purchased for $10 million, into a mixed-use center with an open-air shopping component. The developer hoped to acquire from the city and to incorporate into this new development a 17-acre parcel adjacent to the mall. The plans included a 10-screen cinema, a 120-room hotel, a gym facility and a 20,000-square-foot anchor store, creating over 200 jobs.
